Fragrance of Fraternity

Some people have a subtle but tangible fragrance behind them. It is not the perfume of their person, but the essence of understanding in their lives. They leave imprints of their permeating qualities which seem to have overflowed and brought to others an upliftment of spirit.

No doubt this is the result of years or of lives, lived with the spiritual principles of right actions and poised reactions to the annoyance, frustrations, disappointments and incentives to angry relations which face most of us from time to time.

The Divine Presence is always with us. The wonderful Eternal Friend never leaves us, but it is we who allow the days' annoyance, distractions and pleasures to dilute our allegiance to our most precious of possessions. Our true 'Rock-of-Gibraltar' is the Divinity which is the true occupant of this our house of flesh.

The world is in turmoil because the people are in turmoil, and the people are in turmoil because they are mainly relying on the dictates of the ego to settle problems, instead of turning within to the still, quiet center of their being for guidance. It is truly said, " Social distress, economic anxiety, political chaos - all these are , after all, but the physical consequences of the lack of spirituality in the world. "

Masters tell us, " Every circumstance and experience in life, whether bitter or sweet, is at once perfect and necessary for our further step up the ladder of evolution, and comes into our lives through the working of perfect Divine Justice."

Because I had forsaken unity with Thee,
Because I, fool, had made my body me,
Because I did't know Thee who didst dwell in me,
Therefore I wandered through raging hells
Because I threw away my very self,
I therefore was in chains.

Frances Thompson depicts God as 'The Hound of Heaven', never leaving His pursuit of man who is ever trying to elude Him, absorbed as he is in transient pleasures, desires, and lust of life, until sorrow, sickness, loss, or disease drives him to the realization of the presence of his One Great Friend within.

Understanding is the treasure of heart, and " those who possess it can share it with those who are living in hunger for that sweet companionship which  is already in their own bosom, but they know it not."
